Perspective

What is CrossFit all about?
Why do we do this crazy shit day in and day out?
What is it that picks us up after we are crushed by that WOD?

COMMUNITY.
This past weekend I re-discovered the CrossFit Community.  I watched the elite of the elite hold friendly, genuine conversations with everyone from other top-level athletes to first-time competitors, to children in CFKids programs.  It was truly an eye-opening experience for me.  I am typically so caught up in my own head, worrying about the next workout and how to come out on top, that I don't notice this stuff.  Sad to say, I know.
But it was beautiful to watch!
You'll be hard-pressed to find another group of athletes and/or a sport that exhibits such an intense desire to compete and win, but yet, also shows such a genuine compassion for the individuals on either side.  And, the cool thing is, this is easy to see in any setting - The Fittest Games, or the 530am Coed class - it does not matter.  CrossFitters want to see other CrossFitters succeed.  That is what makes this crazy fitness program so powerful!  The fact that we do mind-boggling workouts together that bond us.  You see, the majority of people find this stuff too hard, too long, too fast, too heavy.
This is simply our Thursday morning, and we'll do it again and again.
Just be sure that you keep it all in perspective.
Don't lose sight of what makes this so much fun!

  1. Amen! I think there's an instantaneous respect and connection between CrossFitters because we routinely stand toe to toe with that little voice inside our heads that says, "I can't, I'm not strong enough, I'm tired, etc." and knock it on its ass. I don't know what I'd do without my 45 minutes of inspiration 3x a week!
